Since the last update Gibson MMA has been busy and has had a successful 2011. Our amateurs competed in the March Tiger Balms and again in May and our Pro fighters Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Julia Budd are coming off 2 important wins for their careers.

On May 30th Rampage won a one sided decision over Matt "the Hammer" Hamill and proved to be simply too much for his opponent. Mr. Gibson started camp with him in March and got him in the best shape of his career.  Julia was hired as Rampages Nutritionist and did all the cooking and nutritional coaching for camp. They spent 12 weeks in California preparing and Mr. Gibson was head coach and ran a successful camp which won Rampage the next title shot against Jon "Bones" Jones.

On June 24th Julia Budd fought on Strikeforce Challengers 16 in Kent Washington and avenged her only Muay Thai loss against Germaine "the Ironlady" De Randamie.

Mr. Gibson came up with a great game-plan that Julia used to defeat Germaine in the first ever female MMA fight under the new Zuffa ownership 

The Gibson Team did very well across the border at the Arlington Submission Challenge. We want to congratulate Neil, Dirk, Ken, Adam, Garreth, Fraser, Kenzie, Shane and Oscar for all of their performances this past weekend. They all fought hard and made their team proud. 

Julia "the Jewel" Budd one of the top female fighters in the world fought for her second time on showtime last weekend, things don't always go as we like. Julia got caught and lost this one. Fighting at a world class level we put ourselves out for the world to see. Julia's determination is unbreakable, the moment we stepped off the plane from nashville, she asked please" open up the gym" she continued to work the bag for a hour and then put her running shoes on and takes off for a 3 mile run.

When she returns she will return stronger, better and remain on fighting for her goal.

As a coach for over 15 years to some of our countries top MMA fighters, I have never seen this before! The desire and determination in one individual so great, I assure you JULIA will be the Strikeforce Champ!

The Gibson dojo is cosed for regular hours from Dec 20th -Jan3rd. Xmas hours dec 20-24 open time from 12-2pm to burn off some calories or to pick up last minute xmas gear or memberships. Once again Julia"The Jewel"Budd puts her skills out for the world to see Jan 7th in Nashville live on showtime in the U.S or Superchannel in Canada. Julia is looking to take out Amanda Nunes from brazil. Julia is training hard and looking sharp and has only one thing on her mind another win for team Gibson.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson wins big in detroit for UFC 123. Under ther guidance of Mr. Gibson's gameplan Rampage did a well executed strategy and took the first two rounds against the very elusive Lyoto Machida. Rampage is only one of two men who have ever been able to do this to Machida. In the post-fight press conference Rampage praises Mr. Gibsons gameplan and skills as an MMA coach and strategist as one of the main reasons he was victorious. Rampage is now in line for the winner of Rashad vs. Shogun for the light heavyweight UFC World Title.

This has been a long and hard training camp with Mr Gibson at the steering wheel, organizing,training and coming up with a flawless strategy for Rampage. News from the camp is that Rampage is in great shape mentally and physically and looks unstoppable.

On October 22nd Live on Showtime Julia made her MMA debut against #6 in the world ranked fighter Shana Olsen. From the opening bell Julia dominated in every aspect of her game landing beautiful strikes and using superb wrestling, early in the 2nd round the ref stopped the fight due to TKO. This fight now puts julia in line as one the top contenders in the 145lb women's division

Two weeks after her MMA fight Julia competed in the World No-Gi Championships and placed third. Julia has been a great help in Rampage's camp and an inspiration. 

Mr Gibson started Rampages camp early this fight to ensure that he will be more than ready for Machida. Julia Budd has signed with Strikeforce and is fighting Oct 22, she has been so  lucky to share rampages private camp and train along side many UFC veterans to prepare for her long awaited Strikeforce debut.Mr gibson has created a spectacular cast of coaches to fine tune his fighters. Just a reminder that Gibson MMA will be closed from August 29th 2010- September 6th. We will re-open on tuesday September 7th for regular hours.

UFC heavyweight superstar Cheick Kongo has been training all week with Mr. Gibson sharpening his MMA skills. He will continuing his training for his upcoming UFC fight in the fall. Stay tuned and keep your eyes open for more UFC stars training at Gibson. 

Mr. Gibson is back in action at his homebase in Port Moody and as you all know Summer is his favorite time to train! Be ready for to train hard and remember your runners for every class!! 

As well keep an eye out for Julia Budd, Garreth Halpin and Kiril Cherepinskiy to be making their way to the cage this summer and Johnny Kozlowski and Frank Pruden shortly after.

Next training camp you will be better and stronger than ever! We are very proud the way you represented and came to fight!

Congratulations to Julia Budd who won both her divisions at Grapplers Quest at the UFC Fan Expo in Las Vegas on May 28th.

Well we survived the hard training of Liverpool and and we conquered the iceland Volcano!!! Next task is to take care of business on home turf at the MGM hotel May 29th. "Rampage" I can say from a coaches point of view is a animal. Our connection during training and all the new techniques I have him working on have come into play in sparring and he will shock the world when he beats rashad the way he will. Hello Students, its your instructor Mr Gibson, the training has been intense for this fight,Rampage is looking unbreakable and more powerful as the days go by. We are leaving the camp in liverpool thursday and enter our final stages of preparation in las vegas. May 29th all Gibson students purchase and watch the UFC 114 and see rampage finish rashad evans.

Also  through a long process of elimination I have been chosen to be a judge at UFC 115 in vancouver, so i will see you all there. Make sure you all watch the primetime series 3 weeks prior to the rampage fight and see some of the preparation i went through to train and organize his camp.

Remember summer is coming and referral month is on, earn yourself a few free months but referring only good people to the gym. Stay regular on your workouts as I will be back to bring your training to the next level. Even Bigger news than we expected is coming to the Gibson Camp soon. Stay Tuned

Hello Everyone!

First thing we will start with is congratulating all the fighters that competed in Tigerbalms. We had a great turnout: We had Christian, Alex and Kenzie in the Kids division and Tony, Shane, Niema and Ryan in the teens division. We also had 3 women compete in the womens kickboxing-Taryn, Lindsay and Jen who all did great.

We also had Sasan and Chelsea fight in North Vancouver, Sasan fought MMA and TKO'd his opponent and Chelsea fought kickboxing and won by decision.

On April 23rd we had Garreth Halpin and Johnny Kozlowski compete in an MMA tournament at the Red Robinson Show Theatre. Both did excellent and Johnny won all 3 fights to take home the Title!!

Mr. Gibson has been in the UK training Rampage and will be there until May 14th then he is off to Las Vegas for the final preparation for Rampage's fight against Rashad.

This weekend we have 2 fighters fighting at the Lucas Center in North Vancouver Friday Night. Chelsea Borsoi will be fighting a kickboxing match and Sasan Joo will be fighting in his second MMA fight. On Saturday and Sunday we have many students competing at the Tiger Balms in North Vancouver at Capilano College.

If you need and tickets for the fights we have a few left so come by and grab them! As well, if you are free on the weekend come check out the gibson students in action at Capilano College.

Former UFC Champion "Rampage" Jackson has hired Lance Gibson to help him prepare a successful journey and game plan to take out Rashad Evans at UFC 114.

The two met 9 years ago in Big Bear california when Mr Gibson was training at the Tito Ortiz camp. Jackson recently moved Gibson into his house in Orange County to have help in his preparation.

Gibson will be back in Vancouver briefly to corner his fighters in their upcoming fights and then will be back off to england to join the "Wolfslair".

Congratulations to Lance Gibson Jr., who competed at 144lbs in oak harbor at the Washington State Championships and took third place in the state. Jr has now earned himself a spot on Team Washington. Good Job Junior!!!

Congratulations to Dirk who flew down to Las Vegas this past friday to compete against fighters from all over the world at Grapplers Quest.

Congratulations to Lance Gibson Jr who competed at the USA collegiate wrestling national championships in Iowa! Jr took top five in the nation in the 134 lb division. He has now earned himself "All American status".

Lance Gibson Jr., competes in IOWA for the USA collegiate wrestling National Championships. 

This past saturday in Burlington Washington we had 4 fighters competing. Our 13 year old fighter Sasan Joo fought his first MMA match against a game opponent. He won every round standing and on the ground and in the last round he finished the fight by TKO. Johnny Kozlowski also made his MMA debut and won by TKO. Johnny forced his oppponent to quit via ground in the second round.

Dirk Odendale and Ken Ishii fought a tag team submission wrestling match. Dirk began the match and the first 30 seconds was 2 on 1, Dirk managed to escape to his feet and tag Ken, Ken stepped in picked up their opponent, slammed him and submitted him with a rear naked choke, ending the match within the first minute.

Next Saturday March 28th, 2009 Gibson Fighters Johnny Kozlowski and Sasan Joo will be making their MMA ring debuts. We also have Dirk Odendale and Ken Ishii competing in a tag team submission wrestling match. 

Congratulations to Julie Lauzon who competed in her first ever Muay Thai match and was outweighed by well over 10 pounds. She dominated every round and was a true inspiration to everyone there. 

Congratulations to another first timer- Jeremy Budd who won a Unanimous decision over his opponent. He overwhelmed his tough opponent with numerous knees and high punch combinations.

Congratulations to Eric Malebranche who in his first fight fought a more seasoned opponent and with a patient but effective rhythm completely dismantled him with a second round TKO.

Unfortunately Jason Bakes from the Sunshine Coast was scheduled to fight his MMA debut, however his opponent backed out on him last minute. Keep your work ethic up and only good things will unfold!

Congratulations to Lance Gibson Jr., who won the Federal Way District Championships on Saturday January 24th 2009. Lance pinned all of his opponents and became the 134lb collegiate wrestling champion.
